Public Dialogue and Launch of Youth4Policy Cohort 2
Venue: Sheraton Kampala Hotel
Youth4Policy (www.youth4policy.org) is a public policy capacity programme aimed at empowering the next generation of young professionals to meaningfully contribute to public policy research, analysis and contemporary public debates. The Konrad Adenauer Stiftung (www.kas.de/uganda/en/) together with the Center for Development Alternatives (www.cda.co.ug) and the Public Policy Institute (www.ppi.or.ug) have designed this initiative to serve as a capacity development lab for current and prospective youth professionals from a diverse spectrum of backgrounds interested in contributing to, and influencing Uganda’s public policy processes. The programme aspiration is to generate evidence based public policy alternatives from the perspective of young people.
Young people represent a commanding majority in Uganda: According to the 2016/2017 Uganda National Household Survey (UNHS), more than 70 per cent of the population is under 30 years. With Uganda’s population growing at a rate of over three per cent annually, meeting the socio-economic and political aspirations of youth will pose a major policy challenge over the coming years.
